Letter from Roland Crangle congratulating Ingersoll for the defense he made in the NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW against the religious opinions of Gladstone; adds that his own views on Christianity have much in common with Ingersoll's. Also, letter from the Yates County Agricultural Society asking Ingersoll, as a native of the county and a leading public figure with many friends in the area, to speak at the 50th Anniversary Fair in September of that year, signed by J. H. Butler, President, and endorsed on reverse by Ingersoll: "Accepted," and letter from Max M. Gutstadt, Ithaca, New York, asking him to deliver a lecture during the college year "as the Faculty and Students of Cornell want to attend!" Also, microfilm of lettersfrom Ingersoll's cousin Sarah Ingersoll Cooper, and a newspaper article on a lecture by Ingersoll.
